7 Brilliant Ways To Keep Your Keys Safe While Swimming

Summer will be here in a few short months, and summertime brings many long days at the pool or the beach. When it's time to swim, however, many people have the same problem; they don't know what to do with their car keys while they relax in the water. If you are one of those people who shove their keys under their towel and hope no one touches them, here are some better ways to store your keys so you can relax and have fun.

A Diaper

If you have a baby, bring an extra diaper for your keys. If you don't have a baby, you can either find a mom with a baby and ask for an extra diaper or buy a pack just for your valuables in the summer time. Put your car keys, phone, or any other valuables in the diaper and roll it up. Set the diaper on your towel and it will look like it's a dirty diaper, so you don't have to worry about anyone touching it.

Magnetic Key Holder

A magnetic key holder is a great way to store your key when you don't know where to put it. Just take your car key off of your key ring and set it in the box. You can stick the magnetic holder underneath your car and it will stick there until you pull it off. Just put your other valuables under your seat or in your trunk so you don't have to worry about them while you're out having fun.

Water Shoes

Many different types of water shoes have tiny zipper pockets on the top of them. The pockets are just large enough to stick a key in and zip them back up. You don't have to worry about the key hurting your feet because there is plenty of padding between your foot and the key.

Coil Bracelets

Pools that have lockers often give you a key on a coil bracelet so you can put it around your wrist or ankle without losing it while you swim. You can purchase these bracelets from just about anywhere. You can usually find a whole pack of them for just a couple dollars. Put your car key on it and you can swim without worry.

Waterproof Case

If you want a way to bring your key, your phone, and other valuables with you into the water, a waterproof case will do the trick. You can find many different waterproof bags that are specifically made for gadgets. You can put many of them on a lanyard and fasten them to you while your swim. This way, if you're out in the water, you can always pull out a camera or your phone and snap a few pictures.

Bury Them

If you're on the beach, you can bury your valuables in the sand. Buy a gallon size plastic bag and put your keys, phone, and any other valuables inside. Find a good spot and bury them in the sand. Either do it under your towel or put your shoes on top of the spot where you buried them so they're easy to find when it's time to go. Thieves might look under towels, but they won't start digging around.

Safety Pin

A simple way to keep your key safe is with a safety pin. Just take your key off of your keychain and safety pin it to your swimsuit. You won't have to worry about it falling off or getting lost. Of course, you'll have to keep your other belongings in your car, but it's better than losing everything.

Next time you head to the beach or the pool, make sure you're prepared and know where you are putting your car key. You don't want to be locked out of your car and stranded because it was lost or stolen. If you do get locked out, it is good to know the numbers for a few local locksmith companies, such as The Lock Shop.
